UPDATE: Severe thunderstorm watches, warnings end

Environment Canada has ended all severe thunderstorm watches and warnings for southwestern Ontario.

The weather agency issued a watch for London, Middlesex County, Sarnia-Lambton, Oxford County, Elgin County, Chatham-Kent and Windsor-Essex Wednesday afternoon. The watch was upgraded to a warning for Chatham-Kent, Elgin County, western Middlesex County and eastern Lambton County not long after.

All watches and warnings were rescinded by 6:30 p.m.

Heavy rain and wind gusts of up to 90 kilometres per hour were expected in affected areas.

The severe thunderstorm alerts came as most parts of southwestern Ontario remain under an extended heat warning.
