More services resume at CKHA, more swab testing coming

More services are up and running at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance.

CKHA CEO Lori Marshall told CK Mornings with Chris and Jen on CKSY on Wednesday that 80 per cent of diagnostic imaging and four of the six operating rooms are now open at the hospital.

Marshall also said the hospital is starting to see more visitors with roughly 60-90 visitors a day after visitation rules were recently relaxed.

Marshall said services are progressing nicely.

"Things like the MRI and the CT scan and X-rays, all of those sort of things so, about 80 per cent of normal is terrific there," she said.

Marshall said the Ambulatory Care entrance is now open for patients accessing Endoscopy, Urology, and other clinics.

"We've opened up the Ambulatory Care entrance this week just for those people who are coming for those specific clinics. So, the Orthopedic clinic, Endoscopy, Urology and people will be told at the time when they're booking their appointment which door to come to," added Marshall.

Marshall said visitors have been cooperating and following the rules.

"Everybody I think really has been very helpful and I always say family is good medicine and I think this has been terrific for our patients," Marshall said.

Marshall added more drive-thru swab testing was planned for communities outside of Chatham and details should be out this week. She said more testing is important especially for those who need to show a negative test before visiting long term care homes. Drive-thru testing has been recently done in Wallaceburg and Maraviantown. Marshall said the assessment centre in Chatham is now seeing about 100 people a day.

CK's Medical Officer of Health Dr. David Colby also told Mornings with Dave and Cheryl on CFCO there have been no problems on local beaches unlike Sauble Beach and Colchester Beach. Those beaches had to be closed because of crowding, partying and littering.
