The next webinar in Sarnia-based Dr. Blake Pearson's Lockdown Learning Series will focus on how COVID-19 is impacting children and adults with disabilities, and their families.
For his fifth session, he'll be joined by Jessica Moran whose daughter and brother live with autism.
Dr. Pearson said the pandemic is creating unique challenges for those living with a disability.
They include a disruption in routine, the cancellation of much-needed support programs, and adding undue pressure onto the shoulders of already overextended caregivers.
According to recent data from Statistics Canada, there are 6.2 million Canadians with disabilities, which is 22 per cent of the Canadian population.
The webinar is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 24.
