Pathways Health Centre for Children is planning to slowly resume its on-site services June 8.
Executive Director Alison Morrison said only urgent appointments will be offered during the first phase of the return to face-to-face care.
"At this time, virtual care will continue and will remain the primary means of service delivery for most children and families on our caseloads," said Morrison. "To reduce risks as we begin resumption of face-to-face care, only clients with confirmed appointments, accompanied by one parent/caregiver will be permitted to access the centre."
Morrison said some services are really difficult to offer online.
"We're talking about some services that might include an adjustment to a wheelchair or a seating device, support with augmentative communication equipment or hearing equipment. We anticipate there may be some physiotherapists that will be meeting with clients face-to-face to assess their needs and perhaps our feeding team with support for swallowing concerns."
Morrison said all staff, clients and families will be screened before entering the Murphy Road facility.
"They will be asked to respect physical distancing and associated health and safety protocols. Staff will be wearing personal protective equipment appropriate for the work they are doing in accordance with public health guidelines."
She said face-to-face delivery of services will be phased in over the coming weeks and months.
