Owen Sound Graduates celebrated

Owen Sound area principals are asking the community to help celebrate the graduating class of 2020 by using their business signs to send a message of congratulations.

Owen Sound District Secondary School Principal Lucy Hilts said, “This has been an unprecedented year for our graduating class, and one that none of us could have predicted. Our graduates have worked hard, but due to the restrictions of COVID-19, many events have had to be postponed or revised. We hope that our community can help wish them well by putting up signs of congratulations during the month of June.”

Kevin Wilson, Principal of Hillcrest Elementary School stated, “Grade 8 students in Owen Sound and area, unfortunately, will not be having the send-off they normally receive in June. We think community recognition would go a long way in helping them to celebrate their achievements.”

Not only are graduates considered those moving to post-secondary, or secondary school, but also our younger students need recognition.

Laurie Gilkinson, Principal at Keppel-Sarawak Elementary School said, “Our Grade 6 students are very disappointed that they are missing out on the final months of their eight years as a Keppel Cougar. Wishing them well as they move on to Grade 7/8 is a wonderful gesture that our students and families would very much appreciate.”
