Windsor-Essex's migrant workers will get support in the battle against COVID-19.
Erie Shores Healthcare is setting up a major testing event, with the objective to test as many of the area's temporary foreign workers as possible for the virus.
ESHC spokesman Arms Bumanlag told BlackburnNewsWindsor.com Monday that the Nature Fresh Recreation Centre in Leamington is being set up for the mass testing, which could begin as soon as Tuesday.
The testing comes following the death of a second Leamington-area migrant worker over the weekend from the disease. The 24-year-old man from Mexico passed away Friday at Windsor Regional Hospital. President and CEO David Musyj told reporters last week that the man was transferred there from ESHC after being in self-isolation.
The goal is to eventually swab each of the approximately 9,000 migrant workers in the Windsor-Essex area. Testing is tentatively set through the end of this week.
