Five new COVID-19 cases, no new deaths in Windsor-Essex

The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit is reporting five new cases of COVID-19 and zero new deaths as of Sunday afternoon.

The total number of cases in the Windsor-area is now at 1,014. So far, 67 people have died as a result of the virus in Windsor-Essex.

As of Sunday, there are now no outbreaks being reported at area long term care or retirement homes. A total of 18 outbreaks have been rescinded since the outbreak began.

From Saturday to Sunday, there were no additional cases listed as being resolved with the total number of individuals who have recovered from the virus in the Windsor-area still at 577.

Due to new provincial guidance regarding the scope of testing for COVID-19, the health unit is no longer reporting the total and pending number of tests in the community.

Across Ontario, 30,617 confirmed cases were reported on Sunday, a 1.4 per cent increase from Saturday's figures. So far in the province, 2,426 have died from COVID-19 and 24,252 have recovered from the virus.
