The Upper Grand District School Board has announced a range of Summer School programs and opportunities.
The board is offering Continuing Education courses for students in Grades 6-8 and Grades 9-12.
That includes a Literacy & Numeracy Support Program for Grade 6, 7, and 8 students requiring additional help with the Ontario Curriculum. The eight-day summer remediation program is offered to students achieving a Level 2 or below in Language and/or Mathematics, and are recommended by their principal. Parents of Grade 6, 7, and 8 students can contact their home school to indicate their interest in the program and register. The session dates are July 2-14, 2020.
Reach-Ahead Credits allow graduating Grade 8 students the opportunity to earn a high school credit prior to entering secondary school in September. Students can choose between two options: Learning Strategies: Skills for Success in Secondary School and Careers & Civics. The session date is June 30-July 24, 2020, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. daily.
Summer School offers a selection of new credits from Grade 9 to 12 with daily attendance mandatory from June 30-July 24, 2020, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. daily.
Secondary Upgrading Credits are for students who have already passed a course in this school year but wish to improve their final grade.
The session dates are June 30-July 13 or July 14-24, 2020, from 8:30 a.m.to 2:45 p.m. daily.
Credit Recovery will also help secondary students meet the expectations of a course they have completed but received a failing grade. Eligible students will be contacted by their home school.
Programs will run during the period of July 2-14, 2020.
Summer programs will be offered virtually through a distance learning model.
