Erie Shores Healthcare assessment centre open longer

Last week, a record number of people had come to be tested for COVID-19 at the assessment centre at Erie Shores Healthcare in Leamington.

On May 27, 107 people attended the ambulatory care clinic off of Fader Street, up from 101 on May 26. Before the province allowed anyone who wished to get tested, the centre averaged about 50 people a day.

With the higher volume in visitors, the hospital is extending the hours it will keep the assessment centre open. As of June 1, it will be open seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Additional tents have been erected outside, so visitors do not have to stand in the sun.

Last week, the assessment centre at the Ouellette Campus of Windsor Regional Hospital saw a substantial uptick in visitors, as well. It extended its hours on May 27 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
