The town of St. Marys has received two separate donations of personal protective equipment for front line workers and staff battling COVID-19.
Mayor Al Strathdee was presented with isolation suits from Chen ChunJu on behalf of herself and husband Li ChangSen. The couple retired to Stratford over 5 years ago, and when Chen became deathly ill, staff at the Stratford General Hospital saved her life. The donation is part of a thank you to healthcare workers and the healthcare system locally, and the couple will continue to donate.
Mayor Strathdee also received KN-95 masks and goggles that were donated by Li Wenli on behalf of Gong Wei, a businessman who lives in Sichcuan, China. Gong was inspired to help Canada after he was saved on a hiking trip in Canada by three locals after he suffered an accident on the trip.
Chen ChunJu and Li Wenli also presented 2,000 surgical masks on behalf of the Alumni of Canadian Universities.
Donations were also received at St. Marys Memorial Hospital by Krista Linklater, executive director for the St. Marys Healthcare Foundation, Mayor Strathdee, RN Rachel Leonhardt and medical records staff Janessa Ruller. (Photo submitted by Andrea Macko, Events Coordinator, St. Marys)
