The Medical Officer of Health for Huron and Perth says as stores and businesses start to open, it's important that people continue to observe the public health guidelines that contributed to the reduction in the spread of COVID-19.
Dr. Miriam Klassen said what is currently known about infectious diseases like this is that there will be a second and third wave as long as there are large parts of the population are not immune.
"If enough people in the population become immune, then the virus can't circulate. But the way things are now, we can assume that most people are still susceptible," said Dr. Klassen. "What we do know is that with most coronaviruses, you're going to be immune at least for some period of time."

She said there are still many restrictions and people are still asked, for the most part, to stay home and only go out for essential reasons.
