The Medical Officer of Health for Huron and Perth counties says she believes the province is taking the right approach in relaxing some of the restrictions that were necessary to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic.
"The plan is to continue to monitor the data, which is cases and hospitalized cases and ICU cases very carefully and, of course, be ready to correct if we start seeing an increase in cases again," said Dr. Miram Klassen. "And hopefully everyone will continue to take the measures very seriously."
Klassen said it's critical that everyone continues to do things such as distancing and staying home as much as possible.
"I can't emphasize that enough -- if you're sick, stay home. That, really, is always good advice and definitely has to be the new normal going forward, if you're sick, stay home. If you need to go out, get what we need to get and then go back home," added Klassen.
Klassen said if everyone continues to play by the rules then restrictions can be eased sooner.
