Clocks, cleaner, jewellery stolen during break-in

Chatham-Kent police are trying to track down some local criminals who may have a little too much time on their hands.

Police said sometime over the past weekend, someone broke into a storage shed behind a business on Grand Avenue East and took off with two large wooden Westminster clocks, a sonic cleaner, and jewellery chest.

The total value of the stolen goods is estimated at $4,350 while the damage that was caused by the break-in was estimated at $2,000.

Police find drugs on man during arrest

A 38-year-old Chatham man who was out on probation was taken back into police custody after he visited a local woman's residence even though he had been told to stay away from her home.

Police said the man's probation order came into effect in mid-December last year, adding that officers arrested the man in the woman's driveway in Chatham Tuesday night after getting a call about him being at the home.

Investigators said when officers searched the man, they also found some suspected fentanyl in his possession.

He was taken into custody pending a bail hearing.

Man arrested after communicating with his ex

A 68-year-old Wheatley man is in more trouble with police after allegedly contacting his ex-wife even though he has been ordered not to talk to her.

Police said the man's ex contacted them Tuesday afternoon to report that.

Officers were able to find the man and arrested him. He was charged with two counts of failing to comply with his release conditions and taken into custody pending a bail hearing.

Multiple arrests from CKPS wanted list

Chatham-Kent police managed to pick up four people on Tuesday who were all wanted for a variety of offences locally.

A 34-year-old Chatham man who was wanted in connection with a shoplifting incident at Walmart in Wallaceburg, failing to attend court, and for fingerprinting was arrested Tuesday morning and taken to the courthouse pending a bail hearing. He was later released with a future court date.

A 28-year-old Chatham man who was wanted in connection with theft of wiring from a business on Queen Street in Chatham was also arrested Tuesday morning. Officers said the accused in that case was charged with mischief, theft, and possession of property obtained by crime. He was also later released pending a future court date.

A 46-year-old Tilbury man who was wanted for Robbery, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possession of property obtained by crime, and failing to attend court was picked up Tuesday night. Officers said he was set to be held in custody pending a bail hearing.

And a 40-year-old woman of no fixed address was arrested last night and charged with mischief in connection with some damage that was done to a vehicle in a parking lot on Keil Drive in Chatham earlier this week. The accused in the fourth case was later released pending a future court date.
