LPH reports jump in local COVID-19 recoveries

Lambton Public Health says 14 more people are now considered to be recovered from COVID-19 in Sarnia-Lambton, for a total of 110.

The number of cases increased by just one to 188 in the latest update provided at 10:35 p.m. on May 2.

No deaths related to the virus have been reported since April 20 and the death toll remains at 14.

The health unit is still reporting three institutional outbreaks at seniors’ facilities in Sarnia, Vision Nursing HomeSumac Lodge and Landmark Village. Six of the 14 local deaths have been linked to Landmark Village, where 30 residents and 10 staff have tested positive.

To date, Lambton Public Health has received results from 2,610 tests, and 93 per cent have been negative.

Bluewater Health reported Sunday morning that nine people are in hospital with the virus and 20 patients are suspected of having it with tests pending.
