If traffic on some Windsor streets is a bit slow Saturday morning, it might be because of a caravan to support healthcare workers.
The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 636 represents about 500 members who work at Windsor Regional Hospital and Hotel-Dieu Grace Healthcare. Another 250 members work for Assisted Living in Southwestern Ontario.
IBEW Local 636 Business Manager Brian Manniger said those workers make up the bulk of their membership in Windsor-Essex, and the other members wanted to let them know their work during the pandemic has not gone unnoticed and is appreciated.
He said he expects at least 80 members in their vehicles to participate.
The caravan will stage in the parking lot of Devonshire Mall near Sears at 8:30 a.m., and Manniger said they hope to hit the road at 9 a.m.

The route will take the slow-moving caravan will travel northbound on Howard Avenue to Memorial Avenue, then onto Byng Road and Lens Avenue, where it will pass Windsor Regional Hospital.
From there, it will go up McDougall Avenue before taking a short jog over to Ouellette Avenue to University Avenue. Heading west, it will head up Crawford to Wyandotte Street West. It will take Sandwich to Prince Road and pass Hotel Dieu Grace Healthcare before heading south on Huron Church Road.
It will pass the field hospital at St. Clair College's Sportsplex when it turns east from Huron Church onto Cabana Road, before heading down Division Road and back to Devonshire Mall.
The entire ride should take about two hours, wrapping up around 11 a.m.
Those taking part are asked to maintain social distancing in the parking lot at Devonshire Mall at all times.
