Bruce Power is lending a helping hand to the Regional Food Distribution Association.
The RFDA supports First Nations and other communities in Northern Ontario. Bruce Power announced on Friday they are sending 5,000 bottles of hand sanitizer and making a $45,000 donation to the Thunder Bay-based organization for distribution to 45 First Nations communities.
Typically the Regional Food Distribution Association supports 30 different First Nations communities, but the impacts of COVID-19 have seen the need increase to 45.
“This was a very easy decision to reach out and give a hand to the Regional Food Distribution Association with this donation,” said David Abbott, Director of Community and Indigenous Affairs. “While our efforts around the COVID-19 pandemic have been focused on helping people in Bruce, Grey and Huron counties, we didn’t hesitate to help the Association address the increased need for support from the First Nations communities in northern Ontario.”
“We truly appreciate this much-needed support from Bruce Power to help out during these uncertain and difficult times,” said Volker Kromm, Executive Director of the Regional Food Distribution Association. “We have seen many organizations come forward with extraordinary acts of kindness, compassion and generosity that will help us get through the COVID-19 pandemic.”
