Police still searching for missing man

Chatham-Kent police are still appealing for tips as the search continues for an 81-year-old man who was last seen walking on Austin Line just outside of Bothwell earlier this week.

Police said the last time Daniel Denby was seen -- between 7:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. Monday night -- he was wearing dark clothing and light coloured work boots at the time.

Investigators said they are using all of the resources available to them to locate Mr. Denby and are also working with neighbouring agencies to find him.

Police and family members are concerned for his well-being and anyone with information is asked to call police immediately at 519-352-1234 ext 9.

Chatham man seriously injured after alleged assault

A 34-year-old Chatham man has been charged with aggravated assault in connection with an incident that sent another local man to the hospital with serious injuries.

Chatham-Kent police said they made the arrest on Wednesday while they were following up on information about an assault that took place at a Chatham residence on Tuesday between two men who know each other.

A 41-year-old Chatham man was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries as a result of the incident and later transferred to a facility in Windsor for further treatment.

The man who was arrested in connection with the case was taken into custody, charged, and later released pending a future court date.

Two men busted for trying to open apartment building mailbox

A 31-year-old Chatham man and a 39-year-old man of no fixed address who weren't supposed to talk to each other are facing charges after they allegedly tried to break into a mailbox at an apartment building in Chatham.

Police said they were able to identify two suspects after reviewing some video surveillance. Officers found the men beside a vacant apartment in the same building and arrested them.

They were both charged with failing to comply with their release conditions by communicating with each other and they were both taken into custody pending a bail hearing.

Another trailer reported stolen

One day after Chatham-Kent police reported that a black 18’ tandem axle trailer was stolen from a business on Cathcart Street in Blenheim, police are now reporting a similar theft from a business on St. Clair Street in Chatham.

CK police said sometime between 2 p.m. Tuesday and 8 a.m. Wednesday, someone stole a black 2018 Miska single axle 14’ trailer from that area.

The trailer was last seen with Ontario license plate Z38400. The total value of the theft has been estimated at $5,000.
