Bruce Power employees raise $120K for local food banks

Bruce Power employees have come together to help out local food banks.

Past and present Bruce Power employees have raised $120,000 through a GoFundMe campaign to help out local food banks in Grey, Bruce and Huron counties and beyond. The funds will be evenly distributed to 38 food banks in Midwestern Ontario, who are all facing increased demand to help those most in need during the COVID-19 pandemic.

In March of this year, Bruce Power donated $300,000 to local food banks and also put together 2,000 community relief packages to distribute to residents in need in local communities.

“Our current and retired employees have always stepped up to help someone in need, and for many of us, there’s never been a more critical time to make sure families in our communities have food on the table,” said David Abbott, Director of Community and Indigenous Relations. “On behalf of them, we want to recognize the amazing women and men - many of them volunteers – for the work they’re doing to keep our food banks operating and for looking after people in their communities."
