COVID-19 outbreak at Blue Water Rest Home in Zurich

Huron Perth Public Health has declared a COVID-19 outbreak at the Blue Water Rest Home in Zurich.

So far only one resident has test positive for the novel coronavirus, prompting public health to declare an outbreak.

The province has mandated all residents and staff be tested.

In a release Monday, Dr. Mirriam Klassen says they have done 1,000 swabs over the past eight weeks in Huron and Perth and will need to do 2,000 more in the next 10 days. They are redeploying staff as needed.

In an update on Huron Perth Public Health's COVID response, officials thanked residents for following public health measures, avoiding a significant surge of COVID-19 cases in the community.
