Bruce Power will soon begin distributing hand sanitizer to communities.
With the help of 23 companies and organizations, Bruce Power will start distributing 50,000 bottles of hand sanitizer to communities in Bruce, Grey and Huron counties, as well as First Nations communities and other targeted areas of Ontario.
Bruce Power recently announced they would be getting hand sanitizer refills from Junction 56 Distillery in Stratford, which will then be shipped to Three Street Brewing in Saugeen Shores for distribution. They hand sanitizer will be given out free of charge to organizations and others in need.
The Grey Bruce Health Unit will be among the first organizations to receive the sanitizer, and will distribute it to group homes, Community Living groups, hospices, women’s shelters, mental health organizations, a homeless shelter, youth detention living facilities, seniors housing facilities and home care organizations. Additional recipients include regional food banks, Indigenous communities, local fire departments and municipalities, small businesses and grocery stores, and a range of community groups.
“Bruce Power is very grateful to everyone supporting this program to protect not only our essential services, but also our residents trying to stay safe from COVID-19,” said Chris Mercanti, Manager of Community and Indigenous Relations. “It’s been said frequently during this pandemic that together we can do great deeds. Today’s announcement is a shining example as corporate Canada, supply chain, a municipality, a board of education and community programs are showing kindness, generosity and goodwill that will allow us to make safer the lives of thousands of Ontarians.”
