Tecumseh Corn Festival could undergo major changes

It is still up in the air whether this year's Tecumseh Corn Festival will go ahead as planned, but if it does, festival-goers may notice some significant changes.

Tecumseh Town Council received a presentation from the Parks and Recreation Department on the event's future this week after public consultation.

Some of the changes include removing the admission fee and making the event free to the public and moving the Miss Tecumseh Pageant to L'Essor High School.

Vendor charges may also be modified, so they are more in line with other festivals in the region.

Those that go may also see more entertainment, interactive activities, and greater representation from the agricultural community.

It still is not certain whether the festival, planned for August 27 to August 30, will go ahead. The town said if current social distancing measures are still in place by June 30, it will be cancelled this year.
