Trio of arrests made in connection with multiple thefts

Chatham-Kent police have arrested three suspects after a tip about two men in a stolen truck on Sheldon Avenue in Chatham led officers to a residence that had some stolen property and ammunition inside.

Police said they got the tip Tuesday night, adding officers were able to locate the truck and learned that it had been stolen during a break and enter in Bothwell.

Two suspects were arrested in connection with the discovery of the stolen truck.

The investigation then led police to a nearby home on Sheldon Ave., where officers could reportedly see in plain view some stolen property that was taken from the same residence in Bothwell where the truck was reported stolen.

At that home on Sheldon Ave., police also located a woman who had been ordered not to communicate with one of the men who had been arrested. That woman was also then arrested in connection with the case.

When police searched the home, they recovered some property that was stolen from a break and enter in Harwich Township, some identification that was stolen from Alvinston, and some ammunition.

A 33-year-old Chatham man, a 30-year-old Chatham man, and a 29-year-old Chatham woman were all arrested and charged in connection with the case. They were all taken into custody pending a bail hearing.

Chatham-Kent police are still investigating the incident and they are also working with neighbouring police services to locate the rightful owners of the stolen property that was recovered from the scene.
