Health unit addresses takeout concerns over COVID

The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit (WECHU) is ensuring residents "takeout food and food delivery are good options" after a local McDonald's employee tested positive for COVID-19.

The health unit said in a release Saturday "there is currently no evidence that COVID-19 is transmitted through food," and that physical distancing can be maintained while using takeout food and food delivery options.

On Friday, the McDonald's restaurant on Dougall Avenue announced an employee had tested positive for the novel coronavirus.

WECHU says residents with safety concerns related to how food is being handled can file a food safety complaint anonymously on its website.
