Perth-Wellington MPP announces funding for critical local support services

Perth-Wellington MPP Randy Pettapiece has announced new funding to help support critical local support services in the area during the COVID-19 pandemic.

In a release on April 9th, Pettapiece announced a total of just over $1.3 million for Wellington County and the City of Stratford, which manages social service agencies in Perth County, will receive just over $1 million.

Municipal governments, alongside key social services like food banks, emergency services, homeless shelters, charitable organizations and many more can use the funds to help ensure they can continue to deliver these services to those in our communities who are most vulnerable.

Additionally, organizations could hire additional staff or acquire more personal protective equipment (PPE) if needed.

The Ontario government will provide $148 million across the province to local service managers and Indigenous program administrators.

“It’s essential that we support those who need extra help, especially in this time of crisis,” said Perth-Wellington MPP Randy Pettapiece. “Our local agencies are doing excellent work, but in many cases their resources are strained. These are tough times,” he added.

Pettapiece added “the goal is to provide flexibility to local communities. They know best how to meet local needs.”
