Man who stole his ex's dogs arrested

A London man who allegedly took off with his ex-girlfriend's dogs and her car earlier this week has been arrested in Chatham.

He was wanted by Chatham-Kent police since Monday, when the alleged thefts took place.

Police said the man was arrested Wednesday afternoon and charged with failing to comply with his probation order, theft of a motor vehicle, theft, and two counts of possession of stolen property.

He was later released with conditions and a future court date.

Wanted man arrested after running red light while cycling

A 26-year-old Chatham man's run from the law came to a swift halt Wednesday night after he allegedly ran a red light while riding a BMX bike.

Police said an officer on general patrol spotted the man running the traffic light at the intersection of Wellington Street and Queen Street in Chatham Wednesday night.

Through investigation, the officer learned that the man was wanted for fraud-related offences and public mischief.

The accused was arrested, charged, and later released with conditions and a future court date.

Tools, batteries stolen during Bothwell break-in

Chatham-Kent police are appealing for tips from the public after someone broke into a barn at Sloan’s Christmas Tree Village and took off with about $10,000 worth of tools and other equipment.

Police said the break-in took place sometime between 5 p.m. Tuesday and 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, adding that the damage caused by the break-in also caused about $750 in damage.

The following items were reported stolen:

- Millermatic 211 MIG Welder with tank and cart

- 22 HP Honda motor

- STIHL MS 362 chain saws x4

- DEWALT drills and batteries x5

- Mastercraft grinder

- DEWALT grinder

- Miscellaneous tools
