The Windsor Essex County Health Unit's weekly epidemiological report suggests the rate of confirmed cases in the region is slowing.
As of Thursday morning, the health unit confirmed an additional 18 positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the total to 262.
"It's showing some initial signal that the case doubling rate is going down. I think that should provide some confidence," said Dr. Wajid Ahmed, medical officer of health. "Having said that, I would still caution it's still too early, and unless we keep these measures in place, we won't be able to see the difference."
There have been 1,940 people tested for the virus. Around 15-20 per cent of the tests are coming back positive.
"This is an indicator to show how prevalent the disease is in our community," said Ahmed.
There are 275 people waiting for test results.
The health unit continues to monitor outbreaks at seven long-term care or retirement facilities.
