Pedestrians pushed by strong wind gusts (File photo by Miranda Chant, Blackburn News)Strong winds in a number of areas in southwestern Ontario has prompted an alert from Environment Canada.
A special weather statement was issued on Thursday for Chatham-Kent, Windsor-Essex, Sarnia-Lambton and London, along with Middlesex, Elgin and Norfolk counties.
The weather agency said northwesterly wind gusts of up to 70 to 85 kilometres per hour are expected Thursday evening. As well, a few isolated thunderstorms are possible with pea-size hail.
They were produced during an intense storm last Saturday afternoon.
