Pet and Wildlife Rescue (PAWR) is changing its adoption process as its offices remain closed to the public during the COVID-19 pandemic.
As of Tuesday, PAWR will allow people to adopt a cat online and schedule a curbside pickup.
The organization said this will limit the spread of the novel coronavirus, while also finding "forever homes" for select animals. The curbside pickup service is only available for cat adoptions for now, with perhaps some exceptions for small animals, as the new service is in its beginning stages.
PAWR has also updated its website to allow pet owners to purchase tags online and have them mailed out.
Municipal dog tags can be purchased over the phone at (519) 360-1998. The renewal deadline for dog tags has been pushed back to June 30, 2020. However, new dog-owners who have never purchased a tag before must buy one immediately or risk being fined.
PAWR is reminding residents that strays and surrenders are still being accepted during this time but by appointment only. Arrangements for such circumstances can be made by calling (226) 996-9969.
