Traffic stop leads to impaired charge

A 33-year-old man is facing charges after getting stopped by Chatham-Kent OPP on Maynard Line.

Officers pulled over the vehicle just before midnight on Thursday and arrested the driver because they believed he was impaired by drugs or alcohol.

The driver was charged with operation while impaired by alcohol, and failure or refusal to comply. He was released from custody with a future court date.

Man charged with break and enter

A 27-year-old man is facing numerous charges after he was caught allegedly trying to steal a pick-up truck from business in Blenheim.

Police responded to a call of a break and enter in progress on Story Street just before midnight on Sunday.

When officers arrived, they heard noises coming from a pick-up truck at the back of the business, inside the fenced compound.

Police say a man ran away, but they found him hiding in bushes in front of a nearby residence on Chatham Street. Police allege the ignition inside the truck had been damaged in an attempt to steal it.

The suspect was arrested and charged with break and enter and commit mischief along with failing to comply with his daily curfew. He is being held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Stolen vehicle recovered in Blenheim

Chatham-Kent police found a green 1995 Ford Bronco on Story Street in Blenheim which was reported stolen from Sarnia.

Stolen motorcycle in Wallaceburg

A motorcycle is missing from a residence on Wallace Street in Wallaceburg.

Police say the 110cc Chinese model blue pit bike, worth approximately $450, was stolen sometime Sunday morning.
