Grey Bruce Health Unit confirms community transmission in latest COVID-19 case

The Grey Bruce Health Unit situation report lists one new case of COVID-19 reported in the past 24 hours in Grey Bruce. The patient is a female, in her 30’s who is hospitalized.

The Health Unit says there is evidence of community transmission in this case. The Health Unit has not released any information on the exact location of the local coronavirus cases.

In all, there have been 11 cases to date with a previous Presumptive Positive case now confirmed. One person is recovered. There are no cases among health care providers or in Long-Term Care facilities

35 negative test results have been received in the past 24 hours.

It now takes seven to eight days for the average test results to be received from the lab.

The Health Unit is preparing for the distribution of Personal Protective Equipment donation from Bruce Power and is adopting a three-month planning approach.

It has also released a new video supporting the message Stay Home, which is posted on social media and shared with county partners.

The GBHU Infectious Disease Team continues with case and contact management, reporting, and responding to COVID-19 related calls while the GBHU On-Call Team continues to ensure essential public health activities not related to COVID-19
