The Township of Chatsworth has declared a state of emergency in response to COVID-19.
Mayor Scott Mackey said in a release on Monday, March 30 that the number one priority is keeping people safe.
“Our number one priority at this time is to ensure that everyone in our community remains healthy. It is crucial that all of our residents self-isolate where possible, and practice social distancing when in contact with others,” said Mayor Mackey.
He added that effective immediately, all playgrounds in the township are closed.
All recreational facilities, community halls were closed earlier and public access to the municipal office was restricted.
All the essential services such as water, fire, roads and waste management are continuing to operate, and staff are distancing themselves and keeping track of phone calls and emails.
