Local businesses need support during outbreak

The novel coronavirus outbreak has had an increasingly negative impact on local businesses, and Port Elgin BIA Chair Addison Zeigler says they need your support.

He said there are ways to support them without shopping in the traditional sense, and staying as safe as possible.

You can support those who stay open by asking about delivery options as many restaurants are turning to take-out and delivery options. You can also arrange for payments over the phone or online. Ziegler added another way you can help is by purchasing gift certificates now for use when the pandemic is over.

Ziegler said now is a time to, metaphorically, come together.

“One of the great things about our community is how we rally around those who need a little help. When life returns to normalcy, whenever that is, it will be critical that we all come together to support our business community. With your help, we will come out the other side.”
