Province establishing COVID-19 assessment centres

Ontario is establishing COVID-19 assessment centres.

Some of those will be established in the region including Owen Sound, Hanover and Kincardine in Bruce and Grey counties.

In Huron and Perth, assessment sites are still being organized.

In Wellington, a COVID-19 assessment centre will open in Guelph on Tuesday and will be available 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. daily, 7 days per week.

The centres are being set up to assess people and direct them where they need to go and not necessarily conduct tests for the novel coronavirus. This is to alleviate the pressure on ER's and other front line health care departments and offices.

As for any assessment centres in Huron, Perth, Bruce and Grey, the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care will make the call on when they will officially open.
