London mayor and city councillor to self-isolate for 14 days

Mayor Ed Holder will be cutting short his trip to the U.S. and returning home to self-isolate.

Holder announced on Saturday that he will be coming home early from a family reunion and has booked the first available flight back to London.

According to the release, Holder will follow the advice of health care professionals and self-isolate for two weeks. He notes that he is showing no symptoms of COVID-19 and is feeling healthy.

"Mayor Holder departed for the United States on Wednesday, March 11 prior to any travel advisories being issued by Canadian authorities. He was originally scheduled to return to London on March 22. At this time, Deputy Mayor Jesse Helmer continues to serve as acting Mayor," stated the release. "During his time in the United States, Mayor Holder was in daily contact with health care professionals in London and City staff helping to coordinate and lead London's response to the COVID-19 pandemic."

Holder will continue to participate in the city's planning and response efforts to the novel coronavirus while in self-isolation, which is set to begin on Monday.

City Councillor Josh Morgan also announced he is self isolating due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
