OFSAA 'AAA' girls volleyball tournament opens in Chatham

Over 300 athletes and coaches are in Chatham this week to compete for a provincial volleyball title.

Chatham-Kent Secondary School is hosting the OFSAA 'AA' girls volleyball tournament, which opens at 9 a.m. on Monday, March 9.

Over the next three days, 16 teams will compete at the St. Clair College Healthplex and at CKSS.

The CKSS Golden Hawks are ranked 15th -- they compete on Monday at 10:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. at the Healthplex, and on Tuesday at noon at CKSS.

The championship game will take place on Wednesday at 5 p.m. at the Healthplex.

Tickets can be purchased at CKSS or the Healthplex during the tournament. A tournament pass is $20, a day pass is $10, students and seniors are $5, and children under 13 are free.

Youth volunteers practice coastal conservation

Nine young volunteers aged 11 to 17 spent three days exploring and protecting the Lake Huron coastline during the Coastal Conservation Youth Corps' inaugural program in Grand Bend from July 21 to 23.
