The Municipality of Chatham-Kent is once again looking to recognize the older adults and senior citizens who contribute to the community or have achieved significant goals.
The nomination period for the 33rd annual Senior Achievement Awards is now open. The deadline to nominate a person who is 55+ is on May 8.
Nomination forms can be picked up at all municipal service centres, public libraries within Chatham-Kent, and at all seniors' centres within the municipality. Forms can also be found online.
"We are requesting the public's assistance and look forward to many nominations from any person or organization," said Mayor Darrin Canniff in a statement.
An impartial selection committee appointed by the mayor will then chose the Chatham-Kent Senior of the Year.
The recipient will be honoured during an awards ceremony at the 2020 Chatham-Kent Senior Expo and Achievement Awards on June 12 at 11 a.m. The expo will be held at the Blenheim Recreation Centre.
Two people were awarded during the 2019 expo, Cleata Morris and Bob Hamilton.
Senior Month is celebrated throughout the month of June.
