Woman Charged with Domestic Related Offences

A 37-year-old Chatham woman has been charged with domestic abuse while trying to rescue her cat from her ex-boyfriend's home.

Chatham-Kent police said the woman went to the home in Thamesville last week to retrieve her cat, broke a window to enter the home and assaulted the man inside after an argument before leaving with her cat.

She was arrested Tuesday morning and has been charged with break and enter and assault.

Break and Enter in Chatham

Police in Chatham-Kent is looking for whomever stole several items from a fenced compound in Chatham.

Police said someone forced their way into the compound at Maple City Mini Storage on Queens Line sometime between Monday at 4:45 p.m. and Tuesday at 10 a.m., cut the lock to a storage unit and stole three Samsung TVs. Items were also stolen from a vehicle on the site.

Investigators said the total value of the theft is estimated at $1,500 and damage to the fence is approximately $200.

Police Looking for the Public’s Assistance 

Chatham-Kent police are looking for the public’s help identifying a man as part of a theft investigation at Pioneer Gas Bar on Richmond Street in Chatham early Monday morning.

Investigators said the man (below) was driving a black Volkswagen Jetta with only one stolen Ontario license plate of BBDM 805 from Mississauga attached to the rear.

UPDATE: Counterfeit cash investigation 

A police investigation into counterfeit money in Chatham is underway.

Police were previously looking to identify a suspect in connection with this case, but have since been able to identify him, so they have requested for his picture to be removed from circulation.
