Police track down stolen iPhone shortly after it was sold
Two Chatham residents are facing charges after someone allegedly stole an iPhone, used it to steal some money electronically, and then sold the stolen phone to someone else.
Police said their investigation shows that the break-in took place on Coverdale Street in Chatham sometime between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Wednesday. Various electronics were reported stolen including an iPhone, which was allegedly used to transfer money out of the victim's bank account.
Officers were able to track down the stolen phone by using a mobile application and found it at a residence on Park Avenue, where it has already been sold to someone along with a stolen iPad.
Police were able to identify two suspects in connection with the case and arrested them on Thursday.
A 35-year-old man and a 37-year-old woman were both charged with possession of property obtained by crime as a result of the investigation. The man was also charged with one count each of theft and fraud.
Both of the accused were later released with conditions and a future court date.

Ex-girlfriend arrested after coffee-tossing
A 34-year-old Chatham woman is facing charges an argument with her ex-boyfriend took a violent turn.
Police said the woman's ex-boyfriend attended police headquarters on Thursday to report that the woman had punched him and thrown coffee at him during an argument.
Officers said they arrested the woman, charged her with assault and assault with a weapon, and then released her pending a future court date.

Copper theft in Tilbury under investigation
Chatham-Kent police are appealing to the public for tips as they try to track down some leads in connection with a copper wire theft in Tilbury.
Police said someone cut the lock to the gate at NRTC Automation on Lyon Avenue sometime between 3:30 p.m. Wednesday and 10:30 a.m. Thursday and took off with about $1,000 worth of copper wire from equipment on site.
