Four people arrested on warrants
Cops were able to kick off the long weekend by nabbing four people who were wanted on outstanding warrants.
On Friday morning, an officer on general patrol located a man on James Street in Wallaceburg who was wanted for theft and possession under $5,000. The 29-year-old was arrested, transported to the police station and given a future court date before being released.
On Friday afternoon, police located a 26-year-old woman on Murray Street in Chatham who was wanted for possession and fraudulent use of a credit card. She was arrested, taken to police headquarters and given a future court date.
On Friday night, cops conducted a traffic stop on Raleigh Street in Chatham. It was discovered that the man in the vehicle had a warrant for failing to attend, theft and possession. The 34-year-old was arrested, transported to police headquarters and later released with a future court date.
Lastly, on Saturday morning, an officer on general patrol in Wallaceburg located a man walking in the area of McNaughton Avenue. He was known to have a warrant for failure to attend and mischief. The 27-year-old was arrested, taken to police custody and eventually released with a future court date.
Senior arrested for intoxication
Police had to arrest a 71-year-old man in Chatham who apparently had too much to drink.
Cops were called to the area of Centre Street Friday afternoon for an unwanted person call.
When they arrived, the man was found to be intoxicated and police determined that he could not care for himself. As a result, he was arrested. He was then taken to the police station and held until sober.
