Several organizations and restaurants are teaming together to form the perfect ingredient in a soup-based fundraiser.
The second annual Soup's On event will simmer on Family Day as volunteers look to raise money for two local organizations -- Chatham Hope Haven and The Chatham-Kent Salvation Army. The inaugural Soup's On fundraiser raised $8,100 in 2019 for Chatham Hope Haven.
The Catholic Women’s Leagues and the Knights of Columbus Councils within the Chatham Catholic Family of Parishes will host the fundraiser, which will be held at the Spirit and Life Center in Chatham on February 17 from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.
The soups are being donated from several local businesses including Hungry Man, The Dutch Market, Links of Kent, Rossini’s Restaurant, Crabby Joe’s, Satellite Restaurant, Kelsey’s, and Central Tavern.
In addition to eating a hearty lunch, there will be face painting for kids and live music.
For those who have yet to see the inside of Chatham Hope Haven, which opened in 2017, there will be tours before and/or after lunch. Free hot chocolate and coffee will also be served on-site.
Rather than charging a flat fee for lunch, volunteers will be collecting goodwill offerings at the door. Receipts for charitable donations of $20 or more will also be available.
