CK Community Fund looking to support more local groups

The Chatham Kent Community Fund is kicking off 2020 by accepting a new round of applications.

The deadline to apply for the foundation's spring grants is March 31, 2020.

The group closed out 2019 by announcing that the foundation, in partnership with South Kent Wind, was able to distribute $85,809 to 13 charitable organizations in the region in December.

In total for 2019, more than $450,000 was awarded to 37 charitable groups and community organizations in Chatham-Kent.

That included the Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation, the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Ontario, and the Blenheim Youth Centre.

"The Chatham-Kent Hospice Kitchen is the heart of our hospice home," said CK Hospice Foundation Community Relations Specialist Julia Early in a release. "The upgrades to our kitchen through your grant help our volunteers to prepare and serve this comforting food in a safe and efficient way."

Other organizations receiving grants from South Kent Wind and the Chatham Kent Community Foundation in 2019 include: Friends of Tilbury Memorial Park, Canadian Cancer Society, Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority, Wallaceburg and District Museum, and others.
