Child airlifted to hospital after crash south of Tupperville

Chatham-Kent police are investigating a two-vehicle crash between Wallaceburg and Dresden that sent a child to the hospital with what was initially believed to be a life-threatening injury.

Police said officers have since learned that the child, who was air-lifted to London after the crash Sunday night, has been released from the hospital.

Investigators said the child was a passenger in a Dodge Charger that was heading west on Base Line at around 8 p.m. Sunday night when it collided with a GMC Sierra pickup truck that was heading north on Centre Side Road.

Police said the woman who was driving the Charger and the man who was driving the pickup truck were both taken to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance for treatment of undisclosed injuries.

The Traffic Unit is still investigating the crash and anyone with information is asked to contact Constable Dan Carroll at dancar@chatham-kent.ca or 519-352-1092.
