Enbridge donates to Hospice

Enbridge Gas is continuing its support for Chatham-Kent Hospice.

Enbridge Gas recently presented the Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation with a $20,000 donation. The funds will support Hospice volunteer network initiatives.

According to Jim Redford, VP of Energy Services at Enbridge Gas, the company has been continuing the support that Union Gas initiated when the hospice opened its doors in 2016.

“At Enbridge Gas, we believe a community belongs to everyone who lives there and we strive to make life better for our families, our friends, and our neighbours,” said Redford. “We’re proud to support the important work that the Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation does to help support this community.”

The Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation is responsible for the fundraising activities needed to support Chatham-Kent Hospice, a 10-bed residential facility that offers care for residents facing end of life and support for their family members.

Melanie Watson, volunteer coordinator with Chatham-Kent Hospice, said the grant will be used to support the around 200 active volunteers who fill a variety of roles with the foundation.

“Volunteers are important members of our hospice care team and are imperative for providing services offered to local families," explained Watson. "All of our volunteers are provided with specialized training, as well as ongoing support so they can provide the best possible end-of-life care to our hospice families. We are very grateful to Enbridge Gas for continuing this funding."
