Kids Book Bash coming to CK

Children in Chatham-Kent will be celebrating all things literature later this month.

The Book Bash Canadian Children’s Literature Festival is set to take place on October 23. The free children’s festival will feature a variety of activities and programs with Canadian children’s authors, illustrators and entertainers.

"The Book Bash will bring literacy to the forefront of our community and demonstrate Chatham-Kent’s rich heritage and culture," said a release by the Chatham-Kent Public Library.

There will be interactive activities throughout the evening as well as author workshops and showcases on several local authors. The event takes place from 5 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at the John D. Bradley Convention Centre in Chatham.

The night will be capped off with author Monique Gray Smith delivering a keynote speech from 7 p.m. until 7:30 p.m and a concert by The Thames River String Band from 7:45 p.m. until 8:30 p.m.
