Several people will be making the best of the last long weekend of summer, which means there will be several closed municipal offices, along with service delays across Chatham-Kent.
Municipal offices will be closed on Monday in recognition of the Labour Day holiday. Offices closed include the Health and Family Services building, the Employment Resource Centres in both Chatham and Wallaceburg, as well as Entegrus and the Public Utilities Commission.
Garbage and recycling pick-up will be delayed by one day. The Harwich Transfer Station, Wallaceburg Transfer Station, and Chatham Leaf & Yard Depot will all be closed on Monday.
Public libraries will be closed on September 2 and will resume regular hours of operation on Tuesday.
In terms of public transportation, the Seasonal Bus Route will be operational to take residents to area beaches. Monday is the last day the Seasonal Bus will be in service; it will begin operations again in the summer of 2020. Regular CK Transit services will not be operational on Monday.
As per usual, emergency services will be available when needed. Emergency departments will also be open at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance's locations. However, some services at the CKHA will not be available over the holiday for non-emergency purposes.
Routine x-rays, electrocardiograms, and ultrasounds will not be available on Monday. Elston Pharmacy, which is located at the Chatham hospital will be closed for Labour Day.
The Chatham-Kent mental health and addictions program out-patient department will be closed on Monday, as will the oncology/chemotherapy department.
