It appears college and university students are the latest targets of fraud attempts.
Windsor police said the scammers are threatening arrests if money is not sent.
Some international students are reporting that the fraudsters call to say their student visa is close to expiring and if they don’t send money right away then they will be deported.
Police said the fraudsters use a phone number that appears very legitimate from the call display but is not.
