UPDATE: Severe thunderstorm warning ends for Southwestern Ontario

A severe thunderstorm warning is over for Southwestern Ontario.

Environment Canada issued a watch around 10:45 a.m. Sunday for Chatham-Kent, Windsor-Essex, London, Middlesex County, Strathroy, Elgin County, Norfolk County, St. Thomas and both Eastern and Western Elgin County.

Around 1:30 p.m. the watch was upgraded to a warning for Windsor-Essex and shortly after it was upgraded to a warning for Chatham-Kent as well. A warning was issued around 3:06 p.m. for Strathroy and Western Middlesex County. Around 3:06 the severe thunderstorm warning was ended for Sarnia and was downgraded to a watch. The warning has since been ended for Windsor-Essex.

The watch for London- Middlesex, Woodstock, Tilsonburg and Oxford County was upgraded to a warning, before being ended around 4:45 p.m. The severe thunderstorm warning for Chatham-Kent was ended. Around 3:58 p.m., a severe thunderstorm warning was also ended for Huron-Perth, Saugeen Shores and Southern Bruce County. A watch remains for these areas.

At around 8:40 p.m. the severe thunderstorm watch for Chatham-Kent, Windsor-Essex, Sarnia and Lambton County was upgraded to a severe thunderstorm warning.

At around 10:30 p.m., a severe thunderstorm warning was issued for London-Middlesex and was ended for Windsor-Essex and Sarnia.

According to the weather agency, "there is a risk of more severe thunderstorms this evening. An initial area of thunderstorms has moved through much of Southwestern Ontario. There is a potential for thunderstorms to redevelop over Michigan and move over the area again this evening. The area is being monitored for possible severe thunderstorms."
