Suspect identified in Walpole Island standoff

Lambton OPP have released the name of a man charged after a lengthy standoff with police at Walpole Island First Nation.

The OPP, Walpole Island First Nations Police, and the West Region emergency response, tactics and rescue, and canine units responded at about 7 a.m. Tuesday to a residence on Brother Road.

Lakota Isaac, 31, of Walpole was arrested without incident about six hours later.

Police said he's charged with two counts of pointing a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order, uttering threats, fail to comply with recognizance and failing to comply with a probation order.

Isaac remains in police custody pending a bail hearing.
