A severe thunderstorm watch has ended for much of southwestern Ontario.
Environment Canada issued the weather bulletins Monday afternoon for areas such as London, Middlesex County, Elgin County, Oxford County, Chatham-Kent, Rondeau Park, Leamington, and Windsor-Essex.
While most of the region was under a severe thunderstorm watch, a severe thunderstorm warning was in effect for London and Middlesex County.
Forecasters with the weather agency said thunderstorms had developed over lower Michigan and are expected to move east.
Wind gusts up to 90 kilometres per hour were possible along with up to 50 millimetres of rainfall.
A heat warning remains in effect for the area.
Between the rainfall on Sunday and the anticipated thunderstorms Monday, conservation officials with the Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority (LTVCA) have issued a flood watch for the McGregor Creek and Rondeau Bay watersheds.
A release from the LTVCA states that water levels on McGregor Creek continue to rise but have not yet peaked. Depending on rainfall amounts, the diversion channel on the creek may need to be used. Other areas that may experience flooding include Erie Shore Drive and areas along the Lake Eries Shoreline.
The flood watch is expected to remain in effect until August 1.
