Bothwell's Brian Wiseman is taking his coaching talents to the NHL.
Wiseman has been brought on as an assistant coach for the Edmonton Oilers, joining Dave Tippett's coaching staff.
The Oilers announced the news Tuesday morning, saying that they were thrilled to have him join their organization.
"I am very excited to add Brian to our coaching staff," said Tippett. "Brian is a forward-thinking coach with whom I have history as both a player and a coach. He works very well with young players and has a passion for skill development."
Wiseman, 48, got his start in the hockey world with the Chatham MicMacs, now known as the Maroons. He then went on to play for the University of Michigan Wolverines in 1990, where he ranks third all-time points, earning 348 points in 166 career games.
Following stints in the American Hockey League and the International Hockey League, Wiseman retired in 2000 and eventually returned to the University of Michigan, where he spent the last seven seasons as an assistant coach.
